My first practical for this semester

As usual, i woke up early today... Went to school for all the lectures and tutorials.. However today during practical, we get to manipulate a worm called Caenorhabditis elegans!! Haha!! I manage to take a picture from the pathetically small eyepiece of the microscope and find this creature very fascinating!! In fact, this is a model organism for us scientist to investigate particularly in the field of genetics. I kinda love the worm and the way it wriggles inself in the agar plate!

As usual, my dominating lab partner and i trying to isolate one worm from the plate by using a glob of bacteria... Don't be alarmed if you hear us scolding one another... its just our way of communicating...

Took a video of the worm!! Sorry for the bad filming... but because i'm doing everything from the eyepiece of the microscope, the exact positioning is hard to attain. Anyway next week we're going to deal with this stupid organism again and i believe i'll do a better job!

The lovely C.elegan busy with crawling...

This is indeed the most interesting event that happened to me today... and i hope to share this joy with everyone who read this blog!! though its only a small worm, some scientist spend the whole of their life with it. Be grateful of how wonderful life is! Smile always!!

Oh ya.. applied for INSTEP ( International Student Exchange Programme ) for a place in University of Alberta from Canada and University of Korea... Hope i can get it! If i can't get it again, i don't think i'm applying for any overseas exchange programme anymore le... Be hopeful!!

LOL!!! 3 hours to pick the worms? i think i took 10 seconds to pick them up! my worms are so obedient! :P

Hopefully the fast transfer will minimise the contamination of the agar!
